ABOUT CALHOUN COUNTY
Established in 1856, Calhoun County was named in honor of John C. Calhoun eminent South Carolina statesman. Located in Central West Virginia on the Allegheny Plateau; with a population of approximately 6,229 and comprised of approximately 281 square miles made up of rolling hills, valleys, and waterways. Grantsville, the county seat was established in 1865 and named after Ulysses S. Grant. Calhoun County is also home of the Calhoun County Wood Festival & Molasses Festival.
